When is Eid al-Adha 2026?

Eid al-Adha 2026 is expected on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (10 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1447 AH). Dates in the Islamic calendar follow the moon, so they move about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. The date shown here is based on the Umm Al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia; in countries that rely on local moon sighting, such as Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, it may fall one day later.

About Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, the "Festival of Sacrifice", falls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day after the Day of Arafah, while pilgrims are completing the Hajj. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.

After the Eid prayer, Muslims who can afford it offer a Qurbani (Udhiyah) sacrifice — a sheep, goat, cow or camel — during the days of 10 to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah, sharing the meat with family, neighbours and the poor.
